Who Went to School with Bond Nickles? I did!

On Thursday, November 18, 2010
at our Christmas Open House
Burry Bookstore is hosting an Author Meet and Greet
from 6:00 until 9:00 pm
Hartsville Native and Writer Bond Nickles will be signing copies of his new children's book A Brown Thrasher.
This event is FREE and open to the public.

In The Brown Thrasher a baby bird arrived at the Nickles home late one night - in the mouth of Sally the cat! But surviving that brush with danger was just the beginning for this little brown thrasher. It would need some help from Mama, Sarah, Davis and Will - and even Daddy. Follow Baby as it grows up in its new "nest," and see if it can learn to live on its own.
Bond is a public information coordinator for the Office of Media Relations at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, where he has lived since 1992. He also keeps the official statistics for Gamecock football games as well as both the men's and women's basketball games. And he continues to do freelance sports writing for local and regional publications and websites. Recently, he profiled former New York Yankee great and USC and Coastal Carolina baseball coach Bobby Richardson in Sandlapper magazine.
Before moving to Columbia, Bond was a fulltime sports writer for daily newspapers in Rome, Georgia, and Savannah, Georgia, and covered everything from skeet shooting and rugby to Atlanta Falcons football and the Ryder Cup. A 1978 graduate of Thomas Hart Academy, Bond is married to Lynn, and they have three children, Sarah (14), Davis (13) and Will (9).
