The thrilling new novel in the #1 "New York Times"- bestselling series.

There's an uneasy and unholy alliance building across the Caribbean. Charley Castillo and his men go in to investigate, but they have no idea what they have just gotten themselves into. By the time they finish connecting the dots, they will be on the hit lists of the Kremlin, the Cubans, the Venezuelans, and the drug cartels-and totally out on their own. Light in the Night at Burry Bookstore

"When you feel scared in the dark or at night,
Squeeze my tummy to light up my light."

Here is how it all began in the words of author Sandy Murphy:

"In only one month my son would become a big brother for the first time. There were plenty of adjustments awaiting him, and leaving his crib to make room for my second child was one of them. It was time to move to the "big" bed.

In truth it was probably harder on me than it was on him (after all, I was pregnant). As I peeked in on his small sleeping frame in that big bed all alone, he looked so small and scared. I felt my eyes well up, and I wished I could give him something that would light up the room and chase away any of his night time fears. Determinedly, I set out to create for him a friend who would do exactly that; and in one sleepless night. A Light in the Night was born.

Since then, A Light in the Night has become a member of the family. Both of our children are now genuinely excited when bedtime rolls around. They know they have a pal waiting for them in the dark, and my husband and I love watching them interact with their bedtime buddy who has brought so much comfort-not to mention joy-to our lives.

It is truly an amazing gift to see first-hand what a mother's heart can give her child(ren). My hope is that every parent or caregiver will experience the wonder I felt by giving their little one(s) a friend who can chase away childhood fears with a magical green glow. I am happy to share A Light in the Night with you and those you love."

Tom Clancy has a new book out - just in time for Christmas

Tom Clancy fans - there is a new book out today starring Jack Ryan
Locked On

Tom Clancy's All-Star lineup is back. Jack Ryan, his son, Jack Jr., John Clark Ding Chavez and the rest of the Campus team are facing their greatest challenge ever.

Jack Ryan, Sr. has made a momentous choice. He's running for President of the United States again and thus giving up a peaceful retirement to help his country in its darkest hour. But he doesn't anticipate the treachery of his opponent, who uses trumped up charges to attack one of Ryan's closest comrades, John Clark.

Now, Clark is in a race against time and must travel the world, staying one step ahead of his adversaries, including a shadowy organization tasked to bring him in, all while trying to find who is behind this.

Meanwhile, Jack Ryan, Jr., Ding Chavez, Dominick Caruso and other members of the Campus-the top secret off-the-books intelligence agency founded by Jack Ryan during his first term in the White House-deal with a question of their own: Why is a Pakistani military officer meeting with Dagestani terrorists? The answer will ultimately lead to a desperate struggle, with nothing short of the fate of the world at stake

Amazon is at it again.

There is growing news coverage and online activity about Amazon's price-check app that has been created to lure shoppers into local Main Street businesses to browse, but to "reward" them for shopping online. Below you will see the letter that American Bookseller's Association CEO Oren Teicher wrote to Amazon Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos.

An Open Letter to Amazon :

Dear Jeff Bezos,
We’re not shocked, just disappointed.

Despite your company’s recent pledge to be a better corporate citizen and to obey the law and collect sales tax, you created a price-check app that allows shoppers to browse Main Street stores that do collect sales tax, scan a product, ask for expertise, and walk out empty-handed in order to buy on Amazon. We suppose we should be flattered that an online sales behemoth needs a Main Street retail showroom.

Forgive us if we’re not.

We could call your $5 bounty to app-users a cheesy marketing move and leave it at that. In fact, it is the latest in a series of steps to expand your market at the expense of cities and towns nationwide, stripping them of their unique character and the financial wherewithal to pay for essential needs like schools, fire and police departments, and libraries.

But maybe we've misunderstood.

Even though you've spent millions on lobbyists, fired affiliates in seven states, and threatened to shut warehouses to avoid collecting sales tax, maybe you really mean it now when you say you support a level playing field.

It's up to you to show us.

In the meantime, indie retailers remain the heart of countless communities -- offering discovery, energy, support, and unique experiences. See you on Main Street.

Sincerely,
Oren Teicher, CEO

Picture Book Version of Best Christmas Pageant Ever

Now out - a picture book version of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!

"Hey! Unto you a child is born!"

Meet the Herdmans--they lie, cheat, and love to give clonks on the head. They are, without a doubt, the worst kids in the history of the world. So no one is prepared when this outlaw family invades church one Sunday and decides to take over the annual Christmas pageant.

None of the Herdmans has ever heard the Christmas story before. Joseph, Mary, the baby Jesus--it's all news to them. So they're convinced that the Wise Men should bring pizza and that the Angel of the Lord is straight out of a comic book. Everyone worries that this year's pageant will be horrible (just like the Herdmans!), but they are sure to make it the most unusual anyone has seen and, just possibly, the best one ever.

Adapted from the beloved novel of the same name, this sparkling picture-book version is perfect for younger children. They will delight in the antics of the terrible Herdmans, who surprise everyone when they capture the true meaning of Christmas.

Explosive Eighteen - Janet Evanovich - Out Today!

Explosive Eighteen - Janet Evanovich
Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum's life is set to blow sky high when international murder hits dangerously close to home, in this dynamite novel by Janet Evanovich.

Before Stephanie can even step foot off Flight 127 Hawaii to Newark, she's knee deep in trouble. Her dream vacation turned into a nightmare, and she's flying back to New Jersey solo. Worse still, her seatmate never returned to the plane after the L.A. layover. Now he's dead, in a garbage can, waiting for curbside pickup. His killer could be anyone. And a ragtag collection of thugs and psychos, not to mention the FBI, are all looking for a photograph the dead man was supposed to be carrying.

Only one other person has seen the missing photo--Stephanie Plum. Now she's the target, and she doesn't intend to end up in a garbage can. With the help of an FBI sketch artist Stephanie re-creates the person in the photo. Unfortunately the first sketch turns out to look like Tom Cruise, and the second sketch like Ashton Kutcher. Until Stephanie can improve her descriptive skills, she'll need to watch her back.

Over at the bail bonds agency things are going from bad to worse. The bonds bus serving as Vinnie's temporary HQ goes up in smoke. Stephanie's wheelman, Lula, falls in love with their largest skip yet. Lifetime arch nemesis Joyce Barnhardt moves into Stephanie's apartment. And everyone wants to know "what happened in Hawaii?"
Morelli, Trenton's hottest cop, isn't talking about Hawaii. Ranger, the man of mystery, isn't talking about Hawaii. And all Stephanie is willing to say about her Hawaiian vacation is . . . It's complicated.

The hardcover edition of "Explosive Eighteen" contains a tear-out calendar inside!

Nicholas Sparks - Best of Me - Releases 10-11-11

Watch this trailer of Nicholas Sparks' new novel The Best of Me

We have had a number of pre-orders for this book.  If you'd like for us to hold a copy for you please call at 843-332-2511 and we'll be glad to.

Everyone wanted to believe that endless love was possible. She'd believed in it once, too, back when she was eighteen.

In the spring of 1984, high school students Amanda Collier and Dawson Cole fell deeply, irrevocably in love. Though they were from opposite sides of the tracks, their love for one another seemed to defy the realities of life in the small town of Oriental, North Carolina. But as the summer of their senior year came to a close, unforeseen events would tear the young couple apart, setting them on radically divergent paths.

Now, twenty-five years later, Amanda and Dawson are summoned back to Oriental for the funeral of Tuck Hostetler, the mentor who once gave shelter to their high school romance. Neither has lived the life they imagined . . . and neither can forget the passionate first love that forever changed their lives.

As Amanda and Dawson carry out the instructions Tuck left behind for them, they realize that everything they thought they knew -- about Tuck, about themselves, and about the dreams they held dear -- was not as it seemed. Forced to confront painful memories, the two former lovers will discover undeniable truths about the choices they have made. And in the course of a single, searing weekend, they will ask of the living, and the dead: "Can love truly rewrite the past?"
