Since 1976 every US president has designated the month of February as Black History Month. It is a time to recognize and celebrate the achievements of black Americans throughout US history.
Throughout the month of February we have had tables set up featuring books focusing on Black History.
Some of the books for adults include
I Beat the Odds: From Homelessness, to the Blind Side and Beyond by Michael Oher
No Higher Honor: A Memoir of My Years in Washington by Condoleezza
The Obamas by Jodi Kantor
The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates by Wes Moore
Some of our children's books include
Copper Sun By Sharon M. Draper
The Glory Field by Walter Dean Myers
I Have a Dream by Martin Luther King Jr with illustrations by Kadir Nelson
