Author Luncheon on November 12, 2009

On Thursday, November 12, 2009, Burry Bookstore and Black Creek Arts Council are co-hosting an author luncheon from 12 noon until 2 pm. Author Karen White will be sharing her latest novel The Girl on Legare Street.

Melanie has grown accustomed to renovating old houses, but she never imagined she'd have to renovate her own life to include her estranged mother. Ginnett Prioleau Middleton left Charleston thirty-five years ago. After receiving an ominous promotion, she has returned wanting to protect the daughter she has never really known. Melanie never wanted to see her mother again, but with some prodding from her friend, Jack Trenholm, she agrees and begins to rebuild their relationship. Together Melanie and Ginnette buy back their old home. With their combined psychic abilities they expect to unearth some ghosts, but what they find is a vengeful dark spirit whose strength has been growing for decades. It will take unearthing long buried secrets to beat this demon and save what is left of Melanie's family.

Karen began writing in 1996 when her children were just babies. When she had a few chapters of her first book written, she sent it in to a writer's contest and won it! The finalist judge was a New York literary agent who offered to represent her. That first book In the Shadow of the Moon was sold and then published in 2000. Since then Karen has published ten award winning novels.

While growing up Karen lived in London, England, and is a graduate of the American School in London. She currently lives in Georgia with her husband and two children. When not writing she spends her time reading, singing, scrapbooking, carpooling children, and avoiding cooking! Please visit Karen's website at www.karen-white.com.

The luncheon will be held in the Gallery at Black Creek Arts Center, 116 West College Avenue. Tickets are $25 and include the book, lunch catered by Bizzell's Food and Spirits, and the opportunity to chat with Karen and have your book signed.
